Back when it was on its buying spree in September 2012, Zynga picked up US studio A Bit Lucky.

It was working on a game called Solstice Arena, and now eight months later, we're getting the first information about it.

Alongside titles such as Battlestone and Eden to Green, it continues Zynga's recent push into midcore gaming.

A mobile Multiplayer Online Battle Arena game, Solstice Arena is designed to appeal to both hardcore players and those who are new to the action strategy genre.

Short, sharp

According to A Bit Lucky, it's taken some "deliberate design decisions" to ensure it's preserved the core of the MOBA experience on mobile devices.

This means game sessions should be ten minutes or less, while the gameplay focus is on your hero characters. There aren't any minions to get in the way.

You'll control three heroes, one at a time (it's 3-on-3 action), and they'll level up, unlocking abilities and combat mechanics through three different upgrade paths. There will also be extensive customisation options.

In terms of modes, there will be Solo vs. A.I., Co-op vs. A.I. and Player vs. Player, with the latter being handled by A Bit Lucky's custom matchmaking system.

"We won't give away too much yet, but it's safe to say multiplayer is one of our favourite aspects of the game," it comments.

Coming soon to iOS and Android, Solstice Arena will be free-to-play.
