Scottish outfit YoYo Games is on something of a roll at the moment.

With releases such as They Need To Be Fed and Karoshi, it's gaining a reputation for innovative iOS and Android gaming.

Its latest release Skydiver Drop Zone continues this trend to a degree, although it's fair to say that it's a more simple arcade game than the aforementioned titles.

Falling down

All you have to do is tap and hold when the skydiver jumps out of his aircraft. This puts him into a speedy freefall. The trick then is you have to release your hold just before he passes over the line of no return.

If you fail to do this, he slams into the ground at high speed. Hopefully though, you get it right and when his parachute opens, then you have to tilt to land him in the centre of the drop zone to get a high score. It's that simple.

In keeping with this score-based approach, leaderboards are run via Game Center.

Skydiver Drop Zone is out now for iPhone and iPad, priced 99c, €0.79 or 59p, or you can get the free ad-supported version via this iTunes link.

The Android versions are similarly 99c/59p or free for the ad-supported version (link).
