3 reasons you should be playing Shin Megami Tensei: Liberation Dx2

Shin Megami Tensei Liberation Dx2 is a game with a legacy to live up to. This is the latest entry in the popular JRPG franchise and brings the demon catching and unique turn-based battling to mobile. We reviewed it upon its release this year July, but for more reasons to join the action, here are three features we think you'll love.

The art of negotiation

One of our favorite features in the game is demon negotiation. During a battle with an enemy demon, a bubble reading 'talk' will sometimes appear over its head. If you tap it, you'll enter into a little question-answer session, which is your opportunity to win the demon over to your side. Choose answers based on their personality - what you think they'll want to hear. If it's a rare demon, you can use a Demon Contract to get them on your team instead.

Demon fusion

Shin Megami Tensei: Liberation Dx2 does have a Gacha element, and you might be lucky enough to get a high-starred, uber-powerful demon from it. But your best bet for creating new, powerful demons, is through fusion. This is a classic element of gameplay in Shin Megami Tensei that fans are familiar with. Think of it as a recipe: you take two demons (one must be Common), a sprinkle of Magnetite and stir the pot to produce a brand new demon.

Dungeons and demons

Dungeon crawling is a quintessential part of the Shin Megami Tensei experience, and it translates well to mobile in Shin Megami Tensei: Liberation Dx2. You pass through the ominous Aura Gate, into the depths of the dungeons, accompanied by two parties of demons you've chosen to be your fighting force. As you explore each floor, you'll encounter random demons as well as bosses who you'll have to defeat. The aim is to clear as many floors as possible until you're defeated or run out of energy. Then you'll get to see the myriad rewards you've picked up along the way.
