Galaxy S III purportedly bursts into flames while using in-car charger
|

Bad news for Samsung. Apparently, the global HSPA+ iteration of Samsung's Galaxy S III smartphone that you can see in the photo below malfunctioned while in an in-car charger, and burst into white flames before giving off a loud bang.

This isn't the first smartphone to burst into flames (iPhones are guilty of that too).

Sammy's device, which was sent to the Carphone Warehouse for an autopsy, had substantial damage and couldn't pick up any reception, but apparently still had a working display. Although the phone's owner was unhurt, his car was left with some nasty molten plastic remains.

"Samsung is aware of this issue and will begin investigating as soon as we receive the specific product in question. Once the investigation is complete, we will be able to provide further details on the situation. We are committed to providing our customers with the safest products possible and are looking at this seriously," a statement released by Samsung, said.
