Now's a good time to trade in your phone

Galaxy Note7 is now banned outright from a lot of commercial airlines

It was less than a week ago that Samsung made the announcement it really didn't want to make. Despite its promise and excellence, the Note7 was a doomed product from the moment that first phone caught fire. If you haven't returned your Note7 by now, here's a pretty stiff reason you should: the Note7 is now banned from most airlines.

Reports worldwide today have brought attention to what I've been expectant of, to be honest. Given that one flight has already had to be evacuated due to a Note7, it was only a matter of time before it became evident that the recalled phones were no good either.

Flight companies such as Virgin Australia, Qantas, Air Berlin, Air New Zealand, Singapore Airlines, and no doubt more to come have banned the phone outright. Even if it's turned off, stored safely in your carry-on luggage, or packed into your checked luggage, you won't be able to fly. So far major airlines such as British Airways haven't banned the phone completely, however when flying to Canada, America, or Hong Kong you'll run into some trouble.

"We have been advised by authorities in the United States, Canada and Hong Kong, that all Samsung Galaxy Note7 smartphone devices have been banned from air transportation in these countries," a statement on British Airways website says. "Customers who own or possess a Samsung Galaxy Note7 device MAY NOT transport the device on their person, in carry-on baggage, or in checked baggage on flights to, from, or within the United States, Canada or Hong Kong."

The long and the short of it is: even if you think your Note7 will be fine, things are about to get a hell of a lot harder for travelling with it. You may as well take advantage of the remedies while they're available and cut out a major stress. I feel much better for doing so.
