Salvaged is a multi-screen combination of first-person shooter and squad-based RTS that, previously, piqued our curiosity.

Now, developer Opposable Games has taken to Kickstarter in order to find $125,000 to bring Salvaged to a more impressive form.

"In Salvaged we want to make people feel like they part of this amazing, responsive sci-fi universe," design director James Parker told us.

Parker has managed this by creating a game that you play on your PC and a tablet at the same time.

The PC displays the different views of your ground team as they infiltrate alien bases. You can't control them directly, instead giving them orders through your tablet.

"Having a separate touch screen controller means we can start messing about with the sorts of outlandish displays and controls that films have been spewing at us for years.

"It's also a great way to control the game - a real-time tactical game needs to condense quite complex interactions into a really streamlined interface and a multi-touch display is perfect for that."

Parker says that he wanted to put you into the position of the disembodied voice that gives out commands in so many shooters.

The effect of doing this is to create a game that's about communication. It's also about tactics and planning ahead, like other strategy games, but Salvaged's uniqueness is found in the connection between you and your team.

If you want to support Salvaged, you can pick up a copy of the game for $15 over on Kickstarter.

Note: One developer on Salvaged is in a relationship with a member of the Pocket Gamer team. That staff member won't be writing about the game, didn't bring it to Chris's attention, and this won't affect any future coverage of Salvaged
