Rubi: The Wayward Mira is Crescent Moon's next striking pixellated metroidvania

If you're all about 16-bit artwork and metroidvania gameplay you're going to want to keep a sharp eye on Crescent Moon's upcoming game, Rubi: The Wayward Mira. Don't get too excited just yet though, the game's not due out on iOS and Android until 2019.

Rubi: The Wayward Mira is a 2D platformer metroidvania which draws inspiration from particle physics. As the title suggests, you play as Rubi, a Mia outcast, as she journeys far and wide to save her homeworld from being over-harvested for Mana.

After being pulled through a tear in space and stranded with a handful of her Mira pals, Rubi needs to recreate the experiment that brought them there. Not all of the Mira are on the same page, though.

Through six expansive areas you've got lots to explore and a few secrets to find along the way. As you progress you'll be able to collect Strings from foes and use them to upgrade your abilities and mould Rubi to your preferred playing style.

Bear in mind the video above is from the game's PC Kickstarter trailer, but I can't see it being too different when it lands on mobile.
