Rival Kingdoms is an upcoming multiplayer RTS for iOS and Android penned by the Tomb Raider writer

Samurai Siege developer Space Ape Games has announced and is now accepting pre-registrations for Rival Kingdoms.

It's a multiplayer-focused RTS with a fantasy world containing a backstory and characters created by Tomb Raider (the recent reboot) writer Rhianna Pratchett.

We're told that you'll be discovering the secrets of the Ancients, and unleashing their explosive powers upon your foes once you do.

As well as the focus on delivering a rich narrative, Rival Kingdoms will offer guild-based gameplay so that you feel part of an alliance that's building a huge army together.

Rival Kingdoms

"Rival Kingdoms takes its genre to the next level, with more action and much less admin. Say goodbye to monotonous tapping,” said Space Ape.

Judging purely from the screenshots, though, it doesn't seem to be that much of a deviation from the Clash of Clans formula. Which, you could say, Space Ape previously banked upon with Samurai Siege.

We'll get to see just how similar, or not, Rival Kingdoms is to this formula when it comes to iOS and Android in early 2015.

You can pre-register for it on its website.
