How to live the longest in Reigns

Reigns has just launched on the App Store, and we think it's a bit of alright.

It's sort of like medieval Tinder: you swipe left or right to say yes or no to various people - advisors, court jesters, the Pope, the general, your dog Rex, the list goes on.

Of course, it isn't as simple as deciding on your dog's attractiveness. You also have to balance out four attributes: Faith, the People, the Army, and Money.

Each decision affects these traits - let them run to zero and you're dead.

But how do you balance the will of the people with the weight of solid gold? How does one keep the faith while waging war with evil forces? Read on to find out…

The basics Reigns

Every card offers a binary choice. These affect your four attributes in various ways, and are usually partly positive and partly negative.

For example, building a church may increase Faith but cost you money.

Remember some cards may affect certain traits more than they affect others - so in the above example it might not cost you too much gold, but the increase in religion might be huge, so you make a net gain.

Use your head Reigns

The attributes affected by a choice are indicated by the dot above them, with a bigger circle meaning a larger effect.

However, the game doesn't inform you whether an effect will be good or bad.

Sometimes this is obvious - building a hospital will obviously help the people but cost you dolla dolla - but other cards are less clear.

In this case, take time to stop and think, and swipe slowly so you see the effects up top.

Don't fall into the trap of thinking this is actually Tinder, swiping wildly to the right.

That's a sure fire way to the dungeon - whether it's Tinder you're using or not.
