Quiet, Please! was a simple yet engaging title which revolved around one girl's quest for a peaceful, noise-free life, and Quiet Christmas is largely the same thing but with a suitably festive theme.

The lead character is the same long-suffering schoolgirl, and her house - as well as its troublesome inhabitants - remains identical. However, while the surroundings are familiar, the objectives are very different.

This time around, each task has a Christmas feel to it - your brother is missing a present from under the tree, and Santa's cookies and milk aren't ready. To make matters worse, your dad can't fix the boiler because he's lost one of his vital tools.

It's going to be loud this Christmas

As before, you can only carry one item at a time, so inventory management is paramount - especially during some of the more complicated procedures, such as mixing together the ingredients to make Santa's aforementioned cookies.

The puzzles are taxing enough to test your mental faculties, but never confusing enough to frustrate. Often, the solution is pretty sensible and for the rare times when you're stumped, a little bit of practical thinking usually works wonders.

Turn down the volume

Quiet Christmas is short and sweet, and once you've finished it you're unlikely to want to return. The festive theme arguably limits the game's appeal even further, although you could say that this is the ideal title to bring out each year to get yourself in the holiday mood.

Given the low cost and undeniable charm of the game, it's possibly easier to recommend Quiet Christmas at this time of year than any other. It probably won't last as long as the turkey, but it's fun all the same.

Quiet Christmas

Like its forerunner, Quiet Christmas is short and sweet, but satisfying puzzles and plenty of festive charm make it just about worthwhile - especially at such a low price

Damien's mum hoped he would grow out of playing silly video games and gain respectable employment. Perhaps become a teacher or a scientist, that kind of thing. Needless to say she now weeps openly whenever anyone asks how her son's getting on these days.
