Taito Corporation announces new untitled Puzzle Bobble game in the classic franchise

Bub is back as Taito Corporation announces a new untitled game in the adorable Puzzle Bobble series. Also known as Bust A Move in some regions, the spin-off franchise from the popular arcade classic Bubble Bobble will also be celebrating Bub's 35th anniversary this year.

The Puzzle Bobble series made its way into mobile through Puzzle Bubble Journey on both iOS and Android devices. Players shoot bubbles and try to match bubbles of the same color in order to clear them from the board. The match-3 game lets you complete missions in order to unlock the next stage. The game also features over 270 puzzle stages where you can collect stars and unlock treasure boxes when you hit a target score.

There aren't too many details about the yet untitled new game in the series at the moment - however, based on the announcement feature embedded below, Bub and his friends will definitely be back. Platforms for the game also haven't been announced as of yet.

Bub did say it's going to be a horizontal Puzzle Bobble, and that "my brother Bob and good friends Peb and Pab are there too." Bub will also appear in an adorable VTuber form. Tsuyoshi Tozaki, the director of the new title, also says, "As the original bubble shooter game, Puzzle Bobble will of course include its trademark simple gameplay, so anyone can play it. But we're also taking notes from Bubble Bobble 4 Friends where you can have fun with friends and family, and we're packing all those ideas into the new game."

For now, you can download Puzzle Bobble Journey on the iOS App Store or on the Google Play Store for Android devices. It's a premium title that costs $4.99 or your local equivalent.
