There’s a game kids play in the UK called Curby.
In it you have to lob a ball at a curb opposite to the one you’re standing on. The idea is to get it to bounce back off the angle and into your arms for another go.
I was reminded of this when playing Prism 3D, although its take on bouncy-balls is rather more abstract.
Two on the bounceAbstract is what you’d expect from the developer of Speedx 3D though. Like that game, Prism 3D sacrifices detail and scope in the cause of slick, fluid 3D graphics and tight gameplay. Once again it pays off handsomely.
Prism 3D is played at a far more considered pace than the former game. Here you’re guiding a perpetually bouncing beach ball across 25 grid-based levels, touching point-scoring blocks and avoiding negative ones.
You also need to be careful not to plummet off the edge of the levels, and finishing in a decent time will also yield its benefits.
See if it bouncesThis mix of Nokia’s Bounce Boing Voyage, the classic Marble Madness and Sega's Super Monkey Ball is extremely playable, with each level sporting multiple optional diversions.
Riskier paths – such as ones featuring moving platforms – inevitably lead to big rewards, which are vital if you want to top the online leaderboards.
Like Speedx 3D, the accelerometer controls also feel a little woolly – particularly when trying to back up – and you have to shift the handset a bit too much to get the ball to react at times. But overall it’s a case of adapting to the game’s requirements.
Prism 3D may be extremely simple, but its lifespan receives a boost from an accomplished level editor. It’s both quick and fun to get your own levels up and running, though oddly it sorely lacks the facility to share your creations online.
All in all, though, Prism 3D is another fine Android exclusive from Hyperbees.
