Rock legends Radiohead have teamed up with design studio Universal Everything to produce an experimental game / app for iOS and Android called Polyfauna.

The ethereal sounds and dreamy landscapes of PolyFauna are taken from Radiohead's song 'Bloom'.

"It comes from an interest in early computer life-experiments and the imagined creatures of our subconscious," Radiohead lead Thom Yorke writes on the band's blog.

You'll probably want to stand up while playing PolyFauna, by the way, for the gyroscope in your device is utilised here to deliver the first-person perspective.

You can also touch the screen to draw 3D lines and to move forward in the direction you're facing.

You'll be taken across bumpy landscapes in an evolving world that becomes populated with flora and bare trees as time passes.

As you follow the crackling red orb from one area to the next, you'll see the sky go from light green to a bold red.

It's an audiovisual journey, so make sure you have your volume up or some top-drawer headphones in.

PolyFauna is available on the App Store [download] and Google Play [download] for free right now.
