We’re just a couple of days away from the launch of Pokémon Go’s latest season, Hidden Gems, and Niantic has already revealed a couple of events that are set to celebrate its release. Summers offer the perfect opportunity to hit the beach and Pokémon Go’s Water Festival: Beach Week aims to emulate that fun in-game.

Water Festival: Beach Week in Pokémon Go will be available between June 6th and 12th at 8:00 pm local time. Similar to the event last year, next week’s celebration is set to introduce new debutants, an exclusive Timed Research, Global Challenges, and avatar items to grab.

There’s no point in organising a beach-related event if the Sand Heap and Sand Castle Pokémon are not part of the festivities. Coming straight from the Alolan regions of Pokémon Sun and Moon are Sandygast and its evolution, Palossand. They are ground and ghost-type Pokémon who will be available in-game for the first time during the event.

A bunch of other beachy Pokémon will also show up in the wild and in raids, with a few region-specific ones as well. Five-star raids in the Asia-Pacific region will feature Uxie, Mesprit in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and India, and Azelf in the Americas and Greenland. Rainy Lures lasting for four times their normal duration will make it easier to catch them as well.

Beach Week’s Global Challenge is to perform 300 million Nice Throws before the event ends. If trainers manage to complete it in time, there’s heaps of bonus Candy waiting on the other side. Players should also look forward to the Timed Research which costs $5.00/ticket. It will remain available until June 12th, granting the surfer pose to those who clear the quests.

Finally, the in-game shop will also feature themed items to pick up and show off during the event. These include the Sandygast Hat, Diver Outfit, and Diver Goggles.
