Have you been able to find a Pokemon GO Ditto? When you can’t actually see Dittos on the map, it’s a challenge to actually find and capture them, so in this article, we are going to be talking about everything Ditto in hopes that you can find yours, whether it’s to complete a quest or complete a Pokedex or you just want to have a silly faced Ditto you’ll probably use some tips to capture it in the end!

He is a Normal-type Pokemon that you will get 3 candies for catching. You can power him up using candy and Stardust and place him in your Buddy slot, to earn more candy as you walk with it. In Pokemon GO Dittos do not show up as themselves in the game as they have been known to take on the shape of other Pokemon. When it comes to him, you won’t actually know if you have captured the elusive Pokemon until you have successfully got the Pokemon to get into the ball. This can be super frustrating, as you will not really know until the moment you actually get one - but we do have some tricks up our sleeves and hopefully they do help you in your quest to Catch Them All!

What Pokemon could be Ditto in Pokemon GO?

In Pokemon GO Ditto doesn’t copy every single Pokemon ever. That would be too much to keep track of, so instead, he has a list of specific Pokemon they like to become. If you target a few of these Pokemon, you can end up catching him more efficiently and you won’t be wasting hope on Pokemon that simply can’t become Ditto when captured.

Paras, Venonat, Weedle, Poppin, Hoothoot, Ledyba, Spinarak, Seedot, Skitty, Whismur, Gulpin, Remoradi, Numel, Bidoff and Venipede.

You will not be able to hatch a Pokemon GO Ditto from an egg.

There might be new forms in the future as more Pokemon get added, but at the time, the above are the only Pokemon that might become Ditto after you capture them, so if there are a lot of Venonat popping up near you, it might be worth capturing them all, even if you have plenty of candies and feel like your inventory is full of them! You never know when a Ditto might strike.

Tips to help you catch a Pokemon GO Ditto

Our first tip is touched on above - target those Pokemon that can become Ditto. If you stick to finding a few of them and work hard at always capturing them, you will have a better chance at getting a him yourself. The list of Pokemon that can be a Ditto is actually quite short, which is good when it comes to keeping an eye out on day to day hunts and searches.

Hunting with friends is another good way to increase your chance of finding one, as they will spawn in the same area as other Pokemon GO Dittos - meaning if someone finds him somewhere, there is a better chance of a Ditto appearing again. If you catch a Pokemon and it turns out to be a Ditto, if others capture that Pokemon, it will be the same one! You can probably find loads of groups online that will play Pokemon Go with you - see if any of them have found a Ditto and where. If a lot of you don’t have him, you can all search and help each other out.

You can lure him!

You can use lures on a Pokestop to attempt to lure in a Ditto - though this is still a grinding way of gaining one, you and your new friends can take turns in hopes of pooling your coins and finding Dittos for everyone! This option, unlike just hunting, does feel less frustrating as everyone will be working together, so you’ll have friends in the same situation as you, trying and hoping to capture him themselves! You can always trade for one, however, this will not help you complete any quests that say you must capture them. If you are just looking to complete a collection or really want a Ditto, trading will ensure you actually have him, as it will be a Pokemon GO Ditto that is directly traded with you. You can find people in various Pokemon Go communities that have an extra one to trade!

What to do with your Pokemon GO Ditto?

Many people That play Pokemon GO might only want a Ditto to complete the Special Research task to capture one, but having him as a part of your Pokemon Go battle team might be worth thinking about! When you battle gyms, he'll will copy the first Pokemon you face off against, taking their move set. This won’t continue to change with each Pokemon after it, but if there is a solid first Pokemon to take on, you can easily mirror it with your Ditto’s original CP holding them up.

He won’t evolve, but you can use candy and Stardust to level up it’s CP, giving them a further advantage when it comes to taking on Gyms or battling in Leagues. Looking for friends to play Pokemon GO with? Just click the link and join the community!
