Pokemon fans may be wondering whether the devs are running out of ideas for new Pokemon, but new ones are still being added to Pokemon GO. The game does have to wait for new instalments, such as Scarlet and Violet, before adding more, but it can be exciting whenever they put them in. There are usually huge events revolving around these additions, especially when they're Mythical Pokemon. There's quite a range of Legendary creatures out there to catch, but that doesn't mean it's easy to find them. In fact, some of their encounter conditions can be very demanding, such as those revolving around Mew.

The adorable flying pink creature Mew is a classic and has been a part of Pokemon since the beginning. It was surrounded by such mystery, that most players didn't even think it was possible to obtain. All methods to get a Mew seemed to vastly differ from each other, but it has been confirmed that Mew can be found in the original games. Interestingly enough, Mew has been a part of Pokemon GO since the beginning as one of the first Mythical Pokemon that you could get. Still, the game makes you work towards that encounter.

Mew's Ranking

Pokemon GO Mew

As hard as it may be for some people to accept, Mythical Pokemon aren't automatically better than the rest. Mew was considered an exception because it's a powerful Psychic-type in a generation where Psychic-type Pokemon are quite powerful. Now that there are over 800 Pokemon, Mew's value has dropped quite significantly. In terms of power ranking, Mew is barely in the top 100, having a max CP (Combat Power) of 3,265 points. It has a decent pool of attacks that it can learn, but its single-typing definitely limits its versatility. Despite this, it remains a relatively solid choice for your team.

In order to capture Mew, you need to complete an activity known as Special Research. To access it, you need to talk to Professor Willow. Once you do, the Professor will give you a series of tasks to complete. Each part of the research has three tasks, which net you a lot of XP as well as some useful rewards. The final part has you encounter Mew with the sole goal of catching it.
