Pocket Gamer and Friends

You may not know it, but Pocket Gamer isn't just a lone website. Why, there's a whole family of sites out there, all doing the Lord's work covering mobile games from just about every angle you can think of!

So, we'd like to spend some time at the end of each week looking at the wonderful things that have sprouted up from our sister websites, and hopefully you'll give them some of your much-valued time and attention.

148Apps

Our boy Harry turned out a particularly interesting piece over on 148Apps, looking at how Angry Birds has declined over the years, and what it needs to do to turn its fortunes around.

For his money, Harry reckons the turning point was Angry Birds Go, a racing game which felt like a truly old-school move when it first launched – and not in a good way. Instead, Rovio needs to focus on creating a smart new idea, and not just using the past for inspiration.

So says Harry, anyway. We're not experts.

AppSpy

Missed Toast Time when it first launched? Yeah, you're not the only one. But Christian at AppSpy is doing his darn best to remind everyone of the game.

It's a bit like Super Crate Box, and features one-touch controls, cute graphics, and a sentient piece of toast. Can't go wrong, can you? Read the article over on AppSpy to find out more.

Android Rundown

Good ol' Tre at Android Rundown has been keeping an eye on the latest Android games as usual. Be sure to check out his reviews of Tekken and Criminal Case: Mysteries of the Past.

AppSpy Video

Oh yeah, AppSpy does YouTube videos too! There's been a sweep of great games this past week, more than one man can handle really, but James has done his best to keep up.

For my money, the best video review of the week was for ChronoBlade, mainly because that game looks like poetry in motion. And the words are like poetry too. It's a treat, for sure.

James also gave the digital version of board game Scythe a go on a live Twitch stream, which you can catch up with right here if you missed it first time round.
