PG's top moments of the week - Monument Valley DLC...
|

Every week, Pocket Gamer provides a weekly digest of the most important and popular stories from these digital pages.

This has been one of the craziest weeks in a long time for mobile games.

We had the long-awaited comic book caper Framed, which had a surprise launch on iOS this week. We've started on a walkthrough to the game's tricky panel shuffling puzzles.

And there was XCOM: Enemy Within for both iOS and Android, which is a meaty expansion pack for a well-loved alien extermination sim. We gave it a Gold Award in our review.

Or what about Space Age - the retro-futuristic sci-fi adventure for iOS which reminds us of old LucasArts adventures? Again, we've laid the groundwork for a complete walkthrough.

Monument Valley

Plus, gorgeous isometric mind-bender Monument Valley got an expansion pack on iOS (and it's coming to Android soon). We produced a complete guide, and Chris laid out his thoughts on those who have given the game a one star review on iTunes.

And let's not forget about mobile MOBA Vainglory (iOS), Flyhunter Origins (iOS and Android), Golfinity (iOS) Jet Car Stunts 2 (now on Android), Strike Suit Zero (Nvidia Shield), and Endless Doves (iOS) to name a few.

Luckily for you, we picked our three must-have games on Android, and then cheated and picked more than three games on iOS

We also held another Big Indie Pitch - speed dating between developers and journos, basically - this time at Apps World in London. The winning games were about fighting fires, zapping giraffes, and playing Flappy Bird in reverse.

Battle Academy 2

And we produce a guide to Battle Academy 2, reviewed a £130 retro gaming gadget, pitted the iPhone 6 against the Nexus 6, went hands-on with Kingdom Rush Origins, and tried out Anki Drive.

In the world of news, Nitrome has teased a new game, there's new info on Telltale's Borderlands and Game of Thrones games, and Five Nights at Freddy's 2 is coming to mobile soon.

Around Steel Media

What is AppSpy? Is it a website about video games? Is it a state of mind? Is it an energy beverage? It's all those things (except that last one), and we'd love for you to come pay us a visit. This week we've been talking about playable Angry Birds cakes, that new Borderlands game, and endless amounts of golf.

This week, 148Apps brought reviews for Candy Crush Soda Saga, GoatPunks (you read that right - GoatPunks!), World of Warriors, Super Secret Service, and gave an Editor’s Choice award to XCOM: Enemy Within.
