Every week, Pocket Gamer provides a weekly digest of the most important and popular stories from these digital pages.

Both Apple and Google had big announcements to make this week.

The Big A unveiled the iPad Air 2 which is thinner, lighter, faster, has an anti-reflective screen, two improved cameras, and Touch ID. And the iPad mini 3 which has, erm, Touch ID.

G Dawg, on the other hand, has got a new Nexus phone, a new Nexus tablet, a new set-top gaming box, and all the latest on Android Lollipop (the operating system, not the delicious treat).

In the world of new releases, the app stores saw robo runner ADAM (iOS and Android), board game Sentinels of the Multiverse (iOS and Android), Zen Pinball spin-off South Park: Pinball (iOS and Android), and time-travelling adventure The Silent Age: Episode Two (iOS and Android).

Botanciula

There was Team 17's sheepish puzzler Hay Ewe (iOS), Avenged Sevenfold's debut app Hail to the King: Deathbat (iOS), nostalgia fest Angry Birds Transformers (iOS), and organic point and click Botanicula (now on Android).

Not to forget Zero Age (iPad), NBA 2K15 (iOS and Android), SUPERHYPER (iOS), The Bot Squad: Puzzle Battles (iOS), Helix (iOS), and Incandescence (iOS and Android).

If that's all too much for you, why not just get these three on iOS, and these three on Android?

Silent Age

Elsewhere, we put together a complete walkthrough to The Silent Age: Episode Two, and a handy survival guide for Minecraft on Vita.

In the world of numbers we picked 16 Android games that play best on tablets, 11 iOS games that were removed from the App Store before their time, and the 7 best escape the room games on mobile.

We also reviewed the ever-so familiar Xiaomi Mi4 and the moreish Vita arcader Pix the Cat.

In the news, Minecraft and Nidhogg hit PS Vita, and we finally had to weigh in on GamerGate when the mob turned on an iOS developer.

Republique

Next week: Republique on Android and Frozenbyte's Splot on iOS.

Around Steel Media

148Apps tried to catch ‘em all this week with an Editor’s Choice review of the new Pokemon Card Game for iOS, plus reviews of Air Supply-SOS and Diner Dash. Head over to 148Apps for the latest in news, reviews and more.
