In an effort to broaden the company's portable gaming strategy, Sony has announced PlayStation Suite, an new mobile gaming platform specific to Android devices.

Instead of a specific handset, PlayStation Suite will support a range of Android devices capable of running PlayStation games.

Akin to an expansion of the PlayStation Network, PlayStation Suite will enable you to download games and play them on the Android device of your choice. Android 2.3 firmware is required.

Confirmed titles include Cool Boarders 2, Syphon Filter, Rally Cross, Wild Arms, and MediEvil. Only PSone legacy titles will be available via PlayStation Suite.

Additionally, Sony promises to work with developers to bulk up the PlayStation Suite library with a range of casual titles in addition to existing PlayStation franchises.

PlayStation Suite will launch on unspecified Android handsets sometime in 2011.
