Join in the celebration as Pirates of the Caribbean: Tides of War marks 500 days on the high seas

Inspired by the hit Disney franchise, Pirates of the Caribbean: Tides of War brings the swashbuckling, gold-plundering and rum-swigging fun to mobile. Players assume the role of pirates, tasked with building, battling and looting their way around the seven seas. You'll encounter choppy waters, with other players bent on taking what's yours - so upgrading your ships, training your troops and defending your fort is essential for survival. You'll also encounter a few familiar faces along the way, including favourites Captain Jack Sparrow and Elizabeth Swan.

The game's South Korean publisher, Joycity, is marking 500 days since Pirates of the Caribbean: Tides of War was launched worldwide with a week-long celebration. It's an opportunity to reward loyal players (and new ones too) for joining the fun. The first reward comes in the form of the player appreciation log-in event. If you log-in during the week starting the 21 September, you'll be given all sorts of in-game goodies, including a 500 Day Anniversary Box - redeemable daily.

There's also a new plunder event worth donning your eyepatch and practicing your best 'Arrr!' for. The Plunder the East India Trading Company event gives you the chance to win three surprise gold boxes - full of shiny doubloons (every pirate's favourite). The event resets daily during the week, so be sure to make the most of it.

September is a good time to play pirate, not just thanks to Joycity's latest event, but also as this week saw the start of 'Talk Like a Pirate' day. For those non-swashbuckler aficionados among you, this annual holiday started back in 1995, and encourages people to (you guessed it) talk like a pirate. It's well worth checking out for a bit of high-seas high jinks.

Command your own fleet of ships, fend off attacks from rivals and hopefully come out of it with a hull full of booty to brag about. To keep up to date with all the latest news and events around the game, simply head over to the game's official Facebook page.
