Piou Piou dev can't help but notice the resemblance between his game and Flappy Bird

While you've probably been enjoying playing Flappy Bird, it's caused the French developer of a game called Piou Piou all manner of pain.

"Kek" is the sole developer at Zanorg, responsible for the aforementioned Piou Piou game.

Rather appropriately given the subject matter, Kek has tweeted a picture in which a screen from his 2011 game Piou Piou is placed side-by-side with one from Flappy Bird. For comparison's sake, you know.

As you can see in the image below, Piou Piou is a game starring a small yellow bird with big lips (or beak). You have to tap the screen to make the bird fly upwards. If you don't touch the screen, the bird will fall.

As you can no doubt imagine, you have to make sure the bird dodges between the cacti that surface from the bottom and top of the screen.

"I contacted Dong Nguyen (creator of Flappy Bird) about the resemblance, and he told me he doesn't think he knew about my game when he made Flappy Bird," Kek told us.

"The games are very similar. And even if I did not invent the gameplay concept, the graphics are very close, and, of course, the concept."

The design of the bird and the gameplay in these two games are very similar. Perhaps there's even enough evidence to label Flappy Bird a clone.

Regardless, Kek tells us he won't be pursuing a legal case, as he's not sure whether he has a strong enough case.

Plus, he doesn't want to spend the time and money on that course of action when he could use that valuable time and money to make more games. That's the spirit!
