Don’t get in a spin – read our beginner’s guide to Piggy Boom

Piggy Boom is a casual, colourful wheel-of-fortune style game. You spin the wheel for rewards, and use them to create your very own islands.

The game comes from the people at RAFOTECH, publisher of Casual Warrior and Cutie Riot, and promises more laid-back and social mobile fun on iOS and Android.

Piggy Boom is easy to pick up and play, but if you’re worried about getting in a spin, here are a few handy tips to get started.

The big wheel in the sky

Spinning the wheel is what gets you and your piggy ahead in life. Every spin gives you a reward of either gold coins - used to develop your island, a shield you can use to protect your land, an attack you can launch on other islands, the chance to steal gold from a rival, and more spins.

As a standard player you can spin the wheel 6 times in an hour (aside from any extra spins you win). However, there are tricks to get more spins. Invite friends on social media to play, receive a free spin from a friend, join the VIP club or buy more spins in-store.

It’s a pig-eat-pig world

Part of Piggy Boom’s gameplay involves being a little underhanded by attacking and stealing from each other. Attacking a rival island can glean you gold and help you knock other players down the global ranking so you can take their place. You can even put out a warrant targeting a particular player – each time one of your friends attacks their island, you get a little richer.

Revenge is sweet

If you find your island targeted by other players, don’t worry. It doesn’t matter how many porkies they tell - Piggy Boom shows you exactly who has been attacking and stealing from you on the in-game leaderboard. That means you can dish out some cold, hard revenge – and get back some gold in the process.

Pets are a pig’s best friend

Once you’re on to your second island, you’ll receive a mysterious egg. It won’t hatch until your fourth island, when you’ll find out what you’ve won – an elephant, a puppy or a meow (a cat, to you and me). Pets help you in various ways – an elephant can assist in defending your islands from attack, a puppy can help you in the CashKing mini-game, and a meow can help you get back some of the gold stolen from you. As you progress, so do their skill levels, making them even more helpful. They need a little TLC, though, so make sure you feed them a daily snack or they won’t raise a paw to help.

Be a social pig

Part of the fun of playing Piggy Boom is being social. There’s a dedicated Facebook group to meet other players, trade tips and tricks and swap pieces from minigames such as the Piggy Boom puzzles. There are also regular competitions hosted on the main Facebook page for all players to enter.

Piggy Boom is available for free from Google Play and the App Store.
