Phases: Infinite Zero gives you one life to make it across its stylish, deadly gauntlet

I haven't even got past the first phase in Phases: Infinite Zero. I don't expect to any time soon, either.

This new hardcore platformer is about as tough as they come.

All it involves doing is touching the screen to move a bouncing ball of light to the right. You let go to make it stop. If you touch any darkness you die instantly.

So the hard part is moving forward at the right time, jumping angle, and speed. Most of the time you don't get a chance to even think about what you're doing.

If you jump too far then there is no way of going back. You're probably going to die.

Phases: Infinite Zero

Death resets you to the beginning of the furthest phase you've reached. There are 40 levels. Again, I'm struggling to get past the first one and I'm having a blast already.

I just love these challenging platformers, and what makes this one especially great is its one-touch controls.

Also, what makes Phases: Infinite Zero a little more exciting as you replay the same bit over and over are the physics.

Everything in this stark and stylish world can behave in new and peculiar ways with each replay. It certainly keeps you on your toes when boxes are falling on you or spikes are rolling down hills.

Currently, Phases: Infinite Zero is available for free on the iOS App Store, but that's only for a few more hours. It's free for its first 24 hours of release, you see.

Once those 24 hours are up it will cost you £1.99 / $2.99 to buy it. So be quick.

Phases: Infinite Zero will also be coming to Android, Amazon Fire TV, Fire Phone, Fire HD, and PC. We'll let you know when it appears on other platforms.
