Pocket Gamer's board game retrospective - Pathfinder Adventures

In this edition of our digital board game retrospective we're going to have a look back at Pathfinder Adventures.

It seems only fitting, after all, since it's recently been announced that the game is set to come out on Steam and various other non-mobile places in the not-too-distant future.

Pathfinder Adventures is a solo or co-op experience that sees you leading some heroes through a series of dungeons.

Everything is represented by cards and dice, and the game does an excellent job of condensing the original tabletop RPG into a few pieces of digital cardboard.

There's a deck building element here that sees you creating the provisions and skills for your hero before each assault. And it's one of the reasons this digital version is definitely worth considering over the physical one.

Where the actual board game involves a lot of sorting and preparation, here everything is much simpler. That means you can jump in and out without having to wade through the set-up process every time.

There are some problems here, including bugs that are still present in the game, but it's still a more tempting prospect for most than the real-life version.

Pathfinder Adventures is free from the App Store (and you can download it by clicking here), but you're going to have to spend some cash on IAPs if you want to get everything that the game has to offer.

Interestingly though, it'll still set you back less than a full tabletop set.
