Parigami is a match three puzzler with a bunch of innovative mechanics that's out right now on iOS and Android.

Rather than swap tiles to match them, here you slide entire rows and columns to match animal faces and score massive points.

There's also an entire papercraft world to explore themed on Africa, with a ton of fun and cute animal characters to meet.

We caught up with Nelson Rodrigues, the Lead Programmer at Awesome Software, to learn more about the differences between Parigami and other match three puzzlers, the challenges faced during development, and the plans for future updates.

What do you think Parigami offers that you can’t get from any other title on the App Store?

"Parigami brings innovative mechanics to the match three genre.

"By dragging entire rows and columns the player is forced to think ahead, as every move may cause drastic changes to the entire board."

What challenges did you face during development, and how did you overcome them?

"Integrating the social aspect of Parigami was a challenge. There are so many variables to plan for and different features to balance.

"We've made games with social features before, but this was the first where the social aspect of it takes the front seat. We all had to learn a lot along the way - in fact, we’re still learning, every day.

"In the end, we believe we’ve put together a solid product, and we’re happy to show it to you today."

Which part of Parigami are you personally the most proud of and why?

"Well, I am a programmer, so the answer to this question is a bit complicated but I’ll try to refrain from getting too technical.

"Personally, I would have to say the part I’m most proud of is the core mechanics. We have implemented them in such a way that we can implement new ones in a very short span of time.

"From the beginning, we wanted to make sure that our core was solid, so we spent quite some time researching existing games and going back to the drawing board every time we found a mechanic that we couldn’t fit on our hypothetical model.

"The result is a robust platform we can use to evolve Parigami, indefinitely."

Do you have anything planned in terms of future updates for the game, and if so, can you give us any details of what these might include?

"We will most definitely keep updating Parigami with new levels and mechanics for quite a while.

"At the time of writing, we are up to 50 levels, and we have at least 30 more in the works with new zones and exciting mechanics.

"I’m not at freedom to reveal these new mechanics just yet, but I can tell you that our players will be visiting the bottom of the ocean next."

Have you any plans to bring Parigami to any other mobile platforms such as Windows Phone?

"Parigami is available right now on iOS, Android, and even on Facebook.

"There is also a special version, Parigami Gold, which is integrated with the Apple Watch, with a tiny companion side game that you can take care of.

"There are plans to port it to Windows Phone in the future."

Parigami is out right now in the App Store [download] and Google Play [download].
