Pac-Man 256 is an arcade runner from the Crossy Road dev coming to mobile this summer
From Frogger to Pac-Man
Bandai Namco has teamed up with Crossy Road developer Hipster Whale for Pac-Man 256, which is due out this summer.
Pac-Man 256 is essentially an endless runner take on Pac-Man. You have to steer the iconic yellow muncher through familiar-looking mazes while the level 256 glitch chases him.
If you're unfamiliar, the level 256 glitch is part of the original arcade version of Pac-Man. If you reached that level you'd meet a game-breaking kill screen.
So if that glitch reaches Pac-Man in this new mobile game then it's game over for you. That's not the only danger, though. The ghosts (Blinky, Pinky, Inky, and Clyde) will, of course, make an appearance and need to be dodged.
But as with classic Pac-Man, if you eat a Power Pellet then you'll be able to eat the ghosts instead. Mmm, a tasty spectral pie.
There are also pellets to eat, coins to collect, and power-ups to obtain around these mazes. And given that this is a game by the Crossy Road developer there's bound to be lots of unlockables.
Expect Pac-Man 256 to be out on smartphones and tablets this summer.
