Ouya Kickstarter campaign proves a resounding success - donations total $8,596,475

Two days ago, the Android-powered Ouya home console was officially sitting pretty after attracting record-breaking Kickstarter donations of more than $7,173,000.

Since then, the console has attracted hundreds (if not thousands) of additional backers, meaning Ouya's Kickstarter campaign has ended with total donations equaling $8,596,475.

That's a darn sight more than the $950,000 the console's manufacturer was originally seeking to raise.

Basically, the campaign has proven to be an incredible success. And if you pledged at least $10, you'll begin to receive your promised rewards from next month.

The Ouya console will feature OnLive functionality at launch, and will boast titles from developers such as Square Enix, who have recently jumped on board.
