Mobile games are big business at the moment, and it doesn't look like that's about to change any time soon.

That's probably why startup company Ouya has begun a Kickstarter campaign in the hope of raising funds for a new Android 4.0-powered console for your living room.

This console, which is also called Ouya, will house a Tegra 3 quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal flash storage, and HDMI outputs. The box will also pack in wi-fi, Bluetooth, and USB 2.0. It's best feature, though, is its price tag: just $99.

The console comes with a controller, which features two analogue sticks, a traditional D-pad, eight action buttons, a system button, and even a touchpad. You can see the controller, which looks pretty nifty, below.

According to Kickstarter, the Ouya is also a dev kit, so budding developers can easily create games for it. Naturally, since it runs Android, existing Google Play games can be easily published to the platform.

"If Ouya delivers on the promise of being the first true open gaming platform that gives indie developers access to the living room gaming market, yes, that is a great idea," developer Mojang said.

"We will follow the development of Ouya and see how it resonates with gamers. I could see all current Mojang games go on the platform if there's a demand for it."
