Mobile games developer Smilegate has released their latest project for closed beta testing: Outerplane. This small slice of the new 3D turn-based RPG will offer some players an early look at what to expect from the full release, and will run for Singaporean gamers from January 5th to the 10th.

Outerplane is an anime-styled turn-based RPG that features some really lovely triple-A budget graphics as well as some beautiful-looking action during combat. It’s clear that the looks of the game borrow from something like Genshin Impact, but that’s absolutely to its credit given how superb the art ends up looking.

As for the gameplay, it’s looking to be a hero collection-based party-building turn-based battler. This means that you’ll be rolling for what is likely to end up being a massive pool of characters, each of whom will have their own unique abilities, and it’ll be up to you to determine which ones are best to put within the same party so that they can all coordinate and become a functional unit.

Alongside this, there is actually a combo attack functionality built into the combat, meaning that if two characters do work together in a way that utilises both of their skills well, they’ll be able to pull off some dynamic combos to do massive damage all in one go.

So, if you’re looking for a new gacha RPG with some familiar but still great turn-based gameplay alongside a huge amount of characters to learn about and use during combat, all while you explore a beautiful, lore-filled world, Outerplane might just be the one for you.

If you’d like to give it a go, go register for this closed beta test on the official website and they’ll let you in right away as long as you live within Singapore! In the meantime, you can check out the Google Play store page at the link below as well!
