A smart future for streaming tech?

Gamescom '11: Rumour - OnLive for smartphones heading to HTC Evo 4G first

While it's not yet been officially confirmed, OnLive dropped strong hints today that we're likely to see its streaming games service make its debut on smartphones at some point in the future.

The HTC Evo 4G was mentioned by name during our discussions with the firm, although there was no confirmation that this would be the first handset to get the service.

It stands to reason that an HTC model would be the first in line to receive OnLive, before the more obvious choices of the iPhone or Galaxy S II, as the Taiwanese company bought a significant stake in the streaming service's business back in February.

The Evo 4G is also one of the smartphones that border on tablet size in any case, measuring 4.3 inches and featuring a kickstand for viewing videos.
