Nvidia: Super-fast Kepler GPU will appear in future 'superphones'

If you're not an obsessive, often-broke PC gamer like myself, then the name Kepler may not mean too much to you.
Kepler is essentially Nvidia's latest GPU architecture, which replaces the old Fermi-based cards that make up the 500 series.
It is, as you might expect from newer graphics technology, rather fast, and will be appearing in "hardcore" PC gamers' computers in the form of the 680GTX.
Back to realityBut, this is Pocket Gamer - not Things Will Wilson Wastes Money On - so why on earth are we talking about the 680GTX?
That's because Nvidia's CEO Jen-Hsun Huang has revealed in an internal memo (seen by AnandTech) that the company is so pleased with the "super energy-efficient architecture" that it will "extend GPUs into datacenters, to super thin notebooks, to superphones".
No dates or further details are forthcoming on how Nvidia plans on doing this, but it'll be interesting to see just how much speed Nvidia will be able to get from a mobile-optimised version of the architecture.
