Rumour: Google and Asus to release 7-inch Android-powered tablet for $199
Could be called 'Google Play'
According to the Android and Me website, "two different industry sources" at this year's Mobile World Congress have stated that Google has partnered with Taiwan-based manufacturer Asus to create a 7-inch Nexus tablet.
The Android-powered gadget, which is purported to launch during the first half of this year and to retail for around $199, is expected to pack a Tegra 3 quad-core processor and Google's Ice Cream Sandwich OS.
Android and Me states that the aforementioned sources have "provided reliable information in the past".
Pass the pepper, please
There have been multiple reports stating that Google will release a 7-inch tablet costing $199. This tablet, which would boast a 1280×800 resolution display, would enter production in April and ship a couple of months later in June.
While Android and Me's sources weren't able to confirm the name of the rumoured tablet, recently registered URLs point towards 'Google Play' as a possibility.
As with all rumours, only time will tell.
