Last night Google went announcement crazy. It was announcing to the left, it was announcing to the right, it was announcing directly in to your face and it didn’t care who knew.

One of the things that it announced is the Nexus 6, a swanky new high-end smartphone that’s a bit of a departure from the Nexus line, especially when it comes to the price.

The Nexus 6 sports a 5.9 inch AMOLED 1440 x 2560 display which gives it a pixel density of 493PPI. There’s a Snapdragon 805 processor, Adreno 420 GPU, and 3GB RAM whirring under the hood too.

And it'll run Android Lollipop, the latest version of Google's operating system, right out of the box.

While the last couple of Nexus phones have been shockingly cheap, the price of the 6 pushes the range up to iPhone levels of wallet choking. The 32GB version costs $649 contract free, the 64GB version costs $699.

We don’t know how much the Nexus 6 is going to cost in the UK, but we do now it should be out before the end of Q1 2015. So that’s nice.
