In addition to unveiling the Nexus 10 tablet, Google also lifted the curtain on its new Nexus 4 smartphone on Monday.

The highly rumoured 4.7-inch smartphone was one of the worst kept secrets in the mobile world this autumn, but we're happy to see it officially revealed all the same.

As the rumours predicted, the main selling point of the Nexus 4 is its crisp 1280 × 768 (320 ppi) display, but it certainly isn't lacking for power. The latest flagship Android smartphone is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon S4 quad-core processor and 2GB of RAM.

Snappy all around

The Nexus 4 will also feature wireless charging that allows users to set it down on a charging mat to replenish the battery thus eliminating the need for wires.

Building upon this new wireless world, the Nexus 4 will run Android 4.2 Jelly Bean which allows users to wirelessly stream media via Miracast to compatible HDTVs.

On the photo side, the Nexus 4 boasts an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera. Google will use the Nexus 4 to launch Photo Sphere, a new service that will enable Android smartphone users to take 360-degree panoramic pictures and upload them to Google+.

The Nexus 4 will go on sale on November 13 with the 8GB model costing $300 unlocked on Google Play, while the 16GB model will retail for $350.

Wired reports that T-Mobile will sell the 16GB version of the Nexus 4 in the United States for $200 with a 2-year contract.
