2K's big league ice hockey sports game series NHL 2K is making a return to iOS and Android this autumn.

The last NHL 2K game that we had on mobile was the Bronze Award-winning NHL 2K11. It was also one of the last games produced for the series after 2K put it on hiatus.

So, this is the series's big return, then. What seems worth noting is that the title of this upcoming game isn't tied to a year as with previous games in the series. It's just called NHL 2K.

Perhaps this means this game will be updated yearly rather than 2K bringing out a brand new game annually, as is the case with EA's FIFA series (and most sports games).

That's speculation on my part, mind. What we do know is that NHL 2K will have classic game modes including NHL Winter Classic, Free Skate and Shootout.

It'll also have a My Career mode to keep you busy as well as a new fast-paced 3v3 mini-game.

On top of all that, NHL 2K sees the series getting its first ever multiplayer options on mobile. We're told that the mltiplayer matches will be turn-based shootouts.

As expected, 2K will be updating NHL 2K regularly with roster updates so you can add new players to your teams.

Lastly, the game will have MFi controller compatibility and wil let you connect to NHL GameCenter LIVE.

NHL 2K will be sold as a premium game for £5.49 / $7.99 on the App Store, Google Play, and the Amazon App Store this autumn.
