Who doesn't love new games? We certainly do - there's just something about the exhilaration of a new title you can't wait to dive into, as the loading screen pops up and you enter a brave new world.
Of course, new mobile games are a dime a dozen these days, and who has the time to scour the iPhone, iPad and/or Android stores to catch the latest title that drops? This is exactly why we've gathered a quick list of 5 new mobile games you should try this week, from undiscovered indie gems to high-profile AAA masterpieces.

Storyteller
This unique gem from publisher Annapurna Interactive and developer Daniel Benmergui lets you unleash your inner storyteller - as the title suggests - to solve puzzles. Now available free of ads and in-app purchases courtesy of Netflix, the game offers a variety of narratives on love, revenge and betrayal where it's up to you to manipulate the characters to get to the story's "ending".
The Netflix version also boasts expanded content with special chapters, new themes, and a fresh character to get to know better as well.

PUZZUP AMITOI
If you've ever wanted more control over your match-3 puzzles, this colourful title lets you do just that. Puzzup Amitoi gives you the freedom to change the direction of incoming blocks to maximise your match-3 prowess on the board.
The game offers a Day Mode and a Night Mode, as well as a more social experience via the Territory Squabble. Here, you can team up with other players against other clans, with language translation within the in-game chat for convenient comms. The game is also available for offline play.

Elderand
When Lovecraftian monsters are lurking around every corner, you have no choice but to buff up your chances of survival to the best of your ability. Thankfully, Elderand offers a variety of weapons you can wield in your arsenal, as you venture out into its pixelated world in an RPG-esque Metroidvania platformer.
The game also lets you customise your appearance and stats to better equip you for fighting against more than 60 different types of enemies. Taking down these beasts will reward you with precious loot you can use to upgrade your gear as well.

Battlesmiths: Blade and Forge
This cross-platform game by developers from OwlCat Games, Plarium, Playrix and Riot Games offers compatibility with both mobile and PC/Mac, letting you dive into the role-playing strategy game regardless of your device. You can explore a deep crafting system as well as thrilling tactical combat as you expand your territory across a narrative-driven campaign.
The game also features a gorgeous and realistic art style, plus a special web experience on battlesmiths.com, where special discounts and rewards are up for grabs along with exclusive events.

Tangle Tower
This formerly Apple Arcade exclusive tasks you with investigating a mansion within a puzzle detective game. You'll need to unleash your super-sleuthing skills to discover clues and interrogate suspects to get to the bottom of the curious case - and given that the prime suspect is a painting, it's bound to be an interesting case to solve.
The game also features lovely character art and animation, as well as fully voiced suspects that each have their own quirky personalities. There's a new Music Player Mode as well where you can listen to the game's funky tracks whenever you feel like it.
