Want to see some of the most amazing Minecraft castles out there? Say no more. We will show you a collection that consists of some of the most eye-catching and unique castles ever created by players.

From medieval to modern and even inspired by Edo period Japan, there are a plethora of ways to build your very own blocky castle. No matter what you choose though, all of them have one element in common - time. Building such a towering structure takes a lot of time and materials, so if you have those two magic ingredients, you probably have what it takes to embark on a castle-building adventure.

If you are just starting out though, don't worry. We've got you covered. We also have a massive collection of Minecraft houses for you to choose from, ranging from starter options, all the way to unique cliff-hanging mansions and modern villas.

Why a Minecraft castle, though?

Why not? A castle can actually be a great survival base, where you can build an elaborate farm, keep animals safe, and most importantly, keep yourself safe. Let's be honest for a second, how many of you thought about living in your very own next-level mansion?

A castle provides just the right amount of space, bezzazz, and utility for a single player, and that's an advantage you should push if you have the means to build one.

A time-consuming ordeal

As you might imagine by now, a castle in Minecraft is not just a simple survival base. It's the ultimate survival base on steroids, only topped by an entire world build (yeah, those exist and they are EVEN MORE time-consuming).

In order to build such a majestic structure, you're better off planning ahead by either using a guide, as we've elaborated on the pages below or by mapping it out in-game. It's best to have a planned approach because symmetry is important, and you want to make sure you have enough materials and space to build upon. That is unless you're building a floating castle (see page 5).

How long does it take to build a Minecraft castle?

If you start from scratch, it can take literally anything from 1 day to a week or more, depending on how much time you allocate. We recommend devising a strategy and splitting it equally over the span of several days so you can meet each day's goal according to plan.

Now that you're a little bit more familiar with castles, let's dive into the actual list of most impressive Minecraft castles to inspire you!

1
Fantasy medieval castle

This one features everything a medieval castle should have - it's massive, and it's neatly mapped on the floor to provide all the essential guidelines. The build is truly big, with massive double towers and even has a lot of attention to detail in the shape of the ivy.

2
Tall fantasy castle

This is yet another build that features a super tall tower and some details worthy of a prize. It's even strategically situated atop of a cliff, which resembles the way castles were ideally built back in the day. It's a fairly simple, yet massive build that is ideal for beginners and experienced players alike.

3
Medieval tower

Another build by Minecraft Fantasy Builds, this tower is not exactly a typical chateau, but it's something a tad simpler and equally beautiful. You can think of it as a "castle without a body". It's essentially a great tutorial that shows you how to build a cute tower that you can expand upon in the future.

4
Survival starter castle

The third entry on the list by the same player must mean they're doing a pretty neat job! This simple starter chateau is, like its title suggests, ideal for starting off. This Minecraft castle is one of the best for players who want to build such a towering structure, yet don't have the means just yet. It acts as a great survival base and can easily transition into something more with time.

5
Floating castle

This has to be one of my all-time favourite Minecraft castles. It's truly magnificent, and by no means beginner-friendly. Its build is divided into multiple parts, as the actual castle is pretty demanding. You will also need a number of materials, and it can take quite some time to gather them all. The Floating Castle is a build you should try to make at one point, as it is something straight out of a fairytale.

6
Ultimate fortress survival base

This build is not especially beautiful or unique, but it is probably one of the most useful out of them all. Providing top-of-the-shelf utility by having all sorts of survival facilities, from brewing areas to smelting, you can, rest assured, enjoy some peace by living here. It's a fairly simple build at its core, but it can take some time to put everything together.

Small castle over water

Stevler came up with another beautiful build, this time featuring a palace over water. That is possible, of course, and it's pretty neat to build such a massive structure over water! Once again it's made out of blackstone, giving it a beautiful dark finish. It's one of the most beautiful (and small) Minecraft castles I've seen in a while.

8
Medieval diorite castle

This time we don't have a blackstone castle, but a diorite one. The build features the signature medieval towers and rooftops, beautiful surroundings and even a massive stair leading to it. It's a Minecraft castle with a lot of attention to detail. Beautiful!

9
Massive medieval castle

Some castles are small, others are big, and others are MASSIVE. This would be the case with this chateau by Cortezerino, who created something straight out of a medieval fairytale. Or rather, a folktale. It looks a lot like what we see in the movies and TV shows, with a big inner yard and a perfectly layered rooftop.

10
Minecraft blackstone castle

It has a beautiful and unique blackstone brick finish that makes it extremely durable, attractive and desirable. Since blackstone is a pretty resource that can be acquired from the Nether depths, and if you thought it was a little too time-consuming, I beg you to think again. This material makes lifts this castle to the next level, and it would probably do the same with many other buildings. Definitely worth it.

11
Classic, simple castle

Did you want a beautiful and simple castle? This one is probably what you've been looking for!

This build is situated on top of the water, and it is a fairly classical-looking castle with a bridge, and four towers, one in each corner. It's got enough detail to look polished, although it can be fairly quick if you're already familiar with building bigger structures. We believe that its beauty lies in its simplicity, which is done extremely well.

12
Mediterranean castle

If you couldn't tell by now, Viggoman's builds are most deserving of a feature on our list. This time, a beautiful (and yet again, architecturally accurate) Mediterranean castle situated atop of a cliff and overlooking the sea. If you ever dreamed of living in style in a several million-dollars worth house, why wait? You can now follow this video and build your own (in Minecraft, that is)!

There are so many good elements that make this chateau worth trying to build, and if by the looks of it you're not sold yet, then think about the survival options you have living here. There's a lot of room to fit anything and everything, and it looks stunning too!

13
HUGE stone castle

If you were looking for a massive castle to build in Minecraft for you and your friends (or with your friends), this build by Lion Cheater is an outstanding choice. Sporting several rooms, a courtyard and more than a handful of towers you can turn it into a survival base and live there for eternity. It's so massive, chances are you'll never run out of things to do within its walls!

14
Japanese Edo period castle

We couldn't have a complete list without mentioning at least one Japanese castle. This beautiful azure-roofed Edo period castle is exactly that, and it has all the essential elements you'd normally see around it: sakura trees, smaller houses, a garden, and even a bridge leading to the outside. It's another stunning creation by Cortezerino.

15
Ocean base castle?

This next build falls somewhere in between a castle and an entire base. In fact, it's more of a base than anything else, but if you were to take the buildings and build them alone, you would probably end up with a modern-looking structure. This build is absolutely brilliant and every aspect of it has been neatly covered, from details to structure and safety. It's one of the best in Minecraft we've seen thus far.

16
Desert castle

Completely designed and located in the desert biome, this desert castle fits right in with what you might expect - relatively small turrets, neatly packed as though resembling a pyramid, and lots of details that would make anyone think twice: is it a mirage, or is it real? The good news - it's real!

17
Small stone castle

After all the beautiful medieval castles, we have yet another one, this time made out of stone and resembling the beautiful structures in Britain that were surrounded by prosperous villages. Such is the case with this small stone castle, which is made out of several types of rock and has a small courtyard for all of your courtly needs. The build is fairly small and thus won't take an eternity to build, but there has to be a lot of attention to detail in order to pull it off, especially if you decide to build it in a similar biome.

18
Nordic castle

The following build is less of a majestic castle, and more of a natural, even raw Nordic one. If you love Norse mythology and Vikings, chances are you will want to build a Minecraft castle that resembles this one. Of course, it comes from Viggoman, the person who made several other historically accurate builds that we've already featured on this list.

19
Medieval historically-accurate castle

In this entry, we have one of the most beautiful Minecraft castles I've ever seen, period.

This historically accurate medieval castle has a level of detail that is only matched by the real deal - an actual medieval castle in real-life. A large number of different blocks, shading, and texture make it stand out for all the best reasons, and its picturesque qualities make it a hard one to pass by without noticing and praising. Good job, Viggoman, this castle could make even a Minecraft hater turn their head.

20
Massive castle, unique seed

To wrap up our list we have probably one of the biggest castles on this list. This one is built after the creator found a unique seed and decided to build around it. The result? Something outstandingly beautiful and big! It is definitely worth all the hard work that went into it, as it is a marvel to look at, to say the least.
