Mojang has treated the Android version of Minecraft - Pocket Edition to a "major" update, which finally introduces the Survival mode that we first told you about back in December.

So, you can now choose between Survival and Creative modes when you decide to create an all-new map.

The former mode comes complete with a day / night cycle and a bunch a fearsome monsters that come out when the sun goes down.

In the latter mode, meanwhile, you now have the ability to fly, which you can activate simply by double-tapping the game's jump button.

Finally, the update introduces a range of new blocks, mobs, resources, and tools. For example, you can now add doors, fences, and fence gates to your map, or pack it with sheep and zombies.

You can download the Pocket Gamer Bronze Award-winning Minecraft - Pocket Edition from Google's Android Market for £4.29 [download].
