Minecraft Pocket Edition - How to get every achievement (Teacher Guide)

The latest version of Minecraft Pocket Edition adds an awesome new feature to the mix: Xbox Live achievements.

In this guide, we’re going to tell you how to unlock them all. But first, some caveats.

You must be signed in to Xbox Live to earn achievements. You must be in survival mode, and you can’t use a world that has swapped from creative to survival mode.

You can, however, use a custom seed to start your game.

Okay, sorted? Let’s begin.

Taking Inventory - 10G
Open your inventory

Taking

The easiest achievement in the game. Just hit the three dots at the end of your quick inventory, at the bottom of the screen to open your inventory. Plink!

Inception - 20G
Push a piston with a piston, then pull the original piston with that piston.

Pistons

For this one, you need to make a piston (planks, cobblestone, iron ingot, and redstone) and a sticky piston (a piston, and a slime ball).

Then have them face each other like the screenshot above. This can be tricky to do, but just remember that the piston head will always face you when you place the block down.

Now use a lever of some kind to make the normal piston push the sticky piston. Then retract the head. Then use the sticky piston, and retract that head, to pull the normal piston in. If that makes any sense.

Smelt Everything! - 15G
Connect 3 chests to a single furnace using hoppers

Hoppers

This is a tricky achievement to get. We think the ridiculous build seen above should work, though we haven't confirmed it.

You'll need to build three hoppers (three iron ingots and a chest each). And three chests and a furnace. Then put them together like the above build: you'll need to sneak to place hoppers on chests and furnaces without actually activating them.

Let us know if it works in the comments below.

Lion Tamer - 15G
Tame an Ocelot

Ocelot

Ocelots are passive mobs, found in Jungle Biomes. They can be tamed by feeding them a whole bunch of fish. Read our fishing guide for more on that one.

The main stumbling block is that ocelots are scaredy cats and will run away if you move too fast. You need to sneak up towards an ocelot, then stand still with a fish in hand until the cat comes up to you.

Only then can you feed it. Keep repeating until the animal is your pal. Bring a lot of fish, too: it can take up to 12 fish to tame an Ocelot.

Leader of the Pack - 20G
Befriend five wolves

Wolves

Like ocelots, wolves are neutral mobs that spawn in the Taiga, Plains, and Forest biomes. They are tamed by feeding them bones, which are dropped by Skeletons and Wither Skeletons when killed.

You'll need to befriend five of them to get the achievement.

Diamonds to you! - 15G
Throw diamonds at another player

Diamonds

For this one, you'll need to make a multiplayer game. Here's our entire guide to playing with friends over a LAN, or Xbox Live, or a Realms dedicated server.

Then "throw" a diamond by holding your finger on the diamond icon on your inventory bar. Have another player walk over and pick up the diamond to net the achievement.

Then be nice and let them do it back to you so they get the achievement also.

Passing the Time - 20G
Play for 100 days

Passing Time

That sounds like a lot, but don't worry. This is 100 in-game days, and each one of those is only 20 minutes. That's still 30-odd hours but you can potentially use the bed to speed things up.

Just keep playing in the same world for a long time and eventually the achievement will pop up.
