Ubisoft's puzzle-RPG Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes heading to iOS on January 24th

After a lengthy journey from the land of consoles to the mobile realm, DS puzzle-RPG Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes is almost ready to do battle on the App Store.

Due to hit iPhone and iPad on January 24th, Ubisoft's interesting genre hybrid combines classic RPG and strategy elements with match-three puzzle mechanics and adorable anime visuals.

In Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes - a preview of which you can find here - you take control of five valiant characters, each of whom represents a particular clan from the Might & Magic universe.

With the realm of Ashen under attack from demonic types, you have to guide the brave quintet through a winding adventure full of peril, melodrama, and grid-based combat.

You see, rather than containing traditional hero vs enemy fight scenarios, the battles in Clash of Heroes involve small armies facing off against one another.

Instead of activating Blitzes and summoning Shivas, you have to rearrange their minions on the battlefield, matching groups of three to make offensive groups and defensive lines.

A good match

We took a shine to Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes's "incredibly addictive" gameplay when it conquered the Nintendo DS back in 2010, pinning a Pocket Gamer Silver Award to its pixellated lapel.

If you fancy a unique twist on the standard RPG formula, you will be able to download Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes from the App Store on January 24th for £2.99 / $4.99.

Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes developer Tag Games has confirmed to Pocket Gamer that an Android version is set to follow, by the way, but the release date has "yet to be announced".
