James Pond may return, if his £100,000 Kickstarter is successful
By Matthew Diener 20 September 2013
Game Name: James Pond - Pond is Back | Developer: Gameware | Format: Android, iPhone, iPad, 3DS, PS Vita | Genre: Platform
James Pond is an international fish of mystery.

His earlier platform games were some of the most memorable from the early 90's, but his last outing - James Pond in the Deathly Shallows - was not exactly a mobile game that we'd recommend.

Now Gameware's hoping Pond can die another day with a new adventure full of retro platforming for iOS, Android, the PS Vita, and - possibly - the 3DS.

Tomorrow never dies?

The new game project aims to present a faithful James Pond experience that doesn't sound at all like 2011's James Pond in the Deathly Shallows disaster.

On the James Pond Kickstarter, Gameware reassures players that it's looking to bring out all the retro things that made James Pond great - its music, its tough boss levels, its "focus on playability".

What this translates to is an IAP-free game, as the campaign boldly states that "We're not interested in prying more money from your pockets with DLC bolt ons, trying to support a freemium model by pushing IAPs, or constantly spamming your Facebook wall so we can get all your mates involved."

Sound like something you'd like to be a part of? If so head over to Kickstarter and show Pond some love.
