UPDATE: We R Interactive has told us that the game will "be rolling out on iOS" initially.

Original article follows:

The BAFTA-nominated online football game I Am Playr has seen a great deal of success on Facebook recently, racking up 1 million monthly active users just six months after it made its debut.

That makes We R Interactive's first-person footy game the "biggest Facebook Unity game" now available, according to its developer. This statistic obviously refers to the fact that the game was built using the popular Unity engine.

The game, for those who haven't heard of it before, aims to recreate the feeling of being a real footballer, boasting goals, glory, and even girls. You have been warned.

Of course, what we're really interested in is the studio's plans for a mobile version - and we won't have long to wait, it seems, as We R Interactive CEO David Rose says that development of I Am Playr for mobile is "well underway in preparation for the Euros [sic] 2012".

"Our aim is for I Am Playr to be the world's biggest, most authentic online football game and to have reached this milestone and be able to stake our claim as the biggest Facebook Unity game just six months since launch is a pretty incredible achievement," Rose added.
