Google Pixel cases: treat your Pixel 2 to a new jacket

The big Pocket Gamer accessory guide 2018 - Pixel 2 cases
|
Updated 3rd June: We've added some new cases to keep your Pixel 2 safe through the summer.

Google's second stab at a proper flagship phone has proved a little divisive, largely thanks to a few screen issues with the larger Pixel 2XL.

But make no mistake - both phones are fine Android machines with excellent performance, slick software, and arguably the best cameras on the market.

They're not what you'd call cheap though, so a case might be a smart bet. Here are a few that will tuck your new Pixel 2 up nice and snug.

It's worth noting that the two pixels have rather different designs, owing to the fact that they're built by different manufacturers, and it doesn't always pan out that a case is readily available for both.

Snakehive case

This classy hand-made folio case is made of genuine leather, with a distinctive two-colour design. You also get a magnetic clasp and three card slots on the inner sleeve.

Speck Presidio Clear

It might look like a standard skinny transparent skin that's only really useful for scratch prevention, but the Speck Presidio Clear will see off droppages from as high as eight feet.

Tech21 Evo Check

Tech21 has a good name in the industry, providing snug-fitting, ruggedly rubberised cases. That chunky bumper means that the Evo Check is good for drops of up to 10 feet.

32nd Google Pixel 2 Case

If you're the sort who generally finds cases an ugly annoyance, consider 32nd's effort for the Pixel 2. It's light, thin, has a completely see-through design, and is very cheap indeed.

Otterbox Symmetry

Otterbox always thoroughly drop tests its products, resulting in very sturdy cases. Sure enough, the Symmetry encases your Pixel 2 in thick rubbery goodness - buttons and all. But it also has a nice minimalist look to it.

Torro leather stand case

Torro has a history of making premium leather folio cases for surprisingly low prices. Here's another example for Pixel 2, made from premium USA cowhide leather and featuring several handy wallet compartments in the inside cover (which doubles as a stand).

Google Pixel 2 Case

It's worth highlighting all of Google's own case provisions, because they're quite lovely. This standard case comes in a range of attractive tailored material designs that won't interfere with the Pixel 2's squeeze-activated shortcut.

Google Live Case

A more standard plastic case with a protective dual-layer design, the main selling point of the Google Live Case is the way you can have any photo or image you like printed on the cover - or even a beautiful Google Earth landscape.

Bellroy Leather Case

If you want the equivalent of Apple's iPhone Leather Cases for your Google Pixel 2, you can't do much better than a Bellroy. They have a similar high level of fit and finish, as well as a slim profile and soft microfiber lining.

MNML Thin Case

Maybe all of the above are just too chunky for you, and all you really want is something to fend off the light bumps, scrapes and fingerprints of everyday usage. The MNML Thin Case keeps things super-slight at just 0.35mm thick, and effectively acts as a second skin.
