Google Pixel cases: treat your Pixel to a new jacket

The big Pocket Gamer accessory guide 2018 - Google Pixel cases
|
Updated 29th July: New Pixel cases added.

It's difficult to say what the ultimate Android phone is, because there are so many high quality examples. However, since the Google Pixel and Google Pixel XL arrived on the scene late last year, there's a clear front-runner.

The Pixel family has one of the best mobile cameras around, while both phones sport great AMOLED displays. Unique to the range, however, is its finely honed and optimised version of Android.

All this brilliance comes at an iPhone 7-matching price, so unsurprisingly there's a thriving case market. As already mentioned, there are two sizes to the Pixel range, but case manufacturers tend to build examples for both.

Spigen Liquid Crystal

Spigen offers some pretty robust cases, but this is a pleasingly simple and clear example that gets out of the way of the Pixel's (admittedly not universally loved) design. While it's not the toughest case, it does offer good protection for the side-buttons.

Lifeproof FRE for Google Pixel

Okay, so the Lifeproof Fre isn't the cheapest case on the market. Nor is it the most attractive. But if you want your protective case to do what it says on the tin, it's tough to find a better - or more proven - example. It makes the Pixel waterproof, for one thing, as well as offering a thick layer of all-round protection and port covers.

Cruzerlite Bugdroid Circuit

Let's not beat around the bush here - if you're a Google Pixel owner, there's a good chance you're a big fan of stock Android. This inexpensive case is a great way to proclaim your love of the little green robot with a funky etched design.

kwmobile Natural wood case

Want to encase your metal and glass Pixel in all-natural wood? Hey, we're not here to judge. We're here to provide you with solutions. This effort from kwmobile should fit the bill nicely.

Urban Armor Gear Plasma for Pixel

UAG makes its rugged Plasma cases for all of the big phones, and it's just come out with a version for Google's handset(s). You get the usual military-grade (MIL STD 810G 516.6, in case you're wondering) protection, tactile button covers, and a handy cut-out for that fingerprint sensor.

i-Blason Transformer

While a rugged case can often spoil the pristine lines of a modern flagship phone, the Google Pixel is already a bit of an ugly duckling. You might as well slap on an i-Blason Transformer, which incorporates a chunky shock-proof body, a "belt clip swivel holster," and a kickstand.

Cruzerlite Defense Fusion Fender

It might sound like a missile, but the Cruzerlite Defense Fusion Fender is actually a smart case that applies an exaggerated bumper to the metal-and-glass Pixel. It looks like someone has drawn around the phone with a thick marker pen, which we quite like.

Pixel Case by Google

Google has emulated Apple in a number of ways with the Pixel and Pixel XL, and that includes building its own bespoke case. The Pixel Case comes in a choice of five colours, with a grippy silicone exterior and a soft microfibre interior. Plush.

Pixel Case by Google - Clear

You want the tight fit of the Pixel Case but transparent, so you can see that metal-and-glass design? Google has just the case for you. Obviously it offers less protection as a result.

Live Case by Google

The final of Google's trilogy of Pixel cases is undoubtedly the most interesting. It's the regular Pixel Case, but you provide the design - whether that's a piece of artwork, a personal photo, or a map reference.

LK Ultra

Like the idea of Google's simply Clear case, but not the £25 it wants you to pay for the privilege? We feel you. Check out the cheap and cheerful LK Ultra instead.

Spigen Rugged Armor

Spigen is a trusted name in phone cases, and the Rugged Armor provides a dependably tough example for the Google Pixel family. Air cushion technology means that you won't have to worry about that glass back shattering into a thousand pieces should you drop it.

Incipio Octane

Incipio makes more stylish cases than most. We particularly like the Octane's ridged bumper, which makes your Pixel look like a cog or a tank tread.
