Green Throttle Games aims to bring a console-quality gaming experience to phones

Guitar Hero co-creator Charles Huang sees smartphones a little bit differently from the rest of us.
Where many of us see our phones as a convenient way to play mobile games on the go, Huang sees them as a fully-fledged gaming console sitting unrealized in our pockets.
His new company, Green Throttle Games, will help mobile gamers turn their Android phones into traditional gaming consoles by providing an easy way to connect them to an HDTV and play via wireless controllers.
A new take on an Android consoleThe end result is a social gaming experience fit for a living room, similar to the Android console Ouya.
Unlike the Ouya, however, Green Throttle doesn't require interested gamers to purchase an entirely new console. All they need buy is a Multiplayer Bundle (available now for pre-order) which includes two controllers and a connector kit for $89.95.
Connecting a phone to a TV is relatively easy with Green Throttle, thanks to a simple plug-and-play cable interface.
Once a phone is plugged into a compatible HDTV, Green Throttle gamers will then navigate through the Green Throttle Arena App. This free app acts as a sort of central hub for Green Throttle, allowing players to download games and project the supported ones onto the TV's larger screen.
To play the games, players simply pair Green Throttle's proprietary Atlas controllers to their phone via Bluetooth. Once connected, they can sit back and enjoy a console-quality gaming experience with their phone in the comfort of their living room.
Developing the future?What sets Green Throttle apart from other controller peripherals - and even the Ouya - is that it also aims to develop its own games exclusively for the system.
Additionally, Green Throttle has also released a free software developer kit to help entice third-party developers into supporting its new style of gaming.
Whether Green Throttle catches on or not remains to be seen, but for its price and power it's difficult to match what Green Throttle plans to deliver.
