If there's one good thing that's come out of this whole "flappy" craze, it's the revitalisation of simple and addictive arcade-style romps.

A lot of developers have embraced the genre again, creating games you can learn to play in five seconds, but can spend weeks trying to master.

And Glacier Rush is definitely one of those.

Just keep swimming

The game is all about guiding a hungry narwhal through a cascade of falling ice blocks while stuffing his face full of fish.

You can drag your finger across the screen to move him, or tap to make him zip to a destination. You need to concentrate on feeding your narhwal fish and not smashing him into giant chunks of frozen sea.

It only takes a few seconds for the tumbling lumps of ice to fill the screen, and the gaps between them are often only just big enough for the narwhal to squeeze through.

They don't stay that way for long either. If he spends too much time in the same place your narwhal is guaranteed to get squished.

Thanks for all the fish

The more the narwhal eats, the higher your score. The higher your score, the better you inevitably feel about yourself.

Being able to edit, save, and share replays of your attempts is a fantastic addition. It's the perfect way to analyse your technique. Or, you know, show off to all your friends.

The game taps into the "just one more go" centre of the brain. And it does it with mechanics that feel fresh and exciting. Plus it's got a narwhal in it.

Despite all the water, Glacier Rush isn't particularly deep. And despite all the fish, it isn't particularly filling. However it is simple, goofy fun that's incredibly tough to put down.

Glacier Rush only takes a few moments to learn, but it that's all the time it needs to get its hooks in to you
