Hi guys, and welcome to our Garena Free Fire assault rifles guide! This is our fourth guide in a row, and you can expect three more before the end of our little series. Hopefully, by the end we’re done you’ll know everything you need to know through our Free Fire guides.

Assault rifles are probably the most common firearm for any soldier after WW2 when it was first introduced. They are the most balanced weapons, light enough and precise even at longer ranges. Semi-automatic and fully automatic fire helps with the obvious choice. There is an urban legend that Hitler himself gave a name to this type of weapon, but there is no evidence of this, although the first AR was first made in Nazi Germany!

What are the Free Fire assault rifles and how to use them?

Assault rifles are well-rounded weapons in Free Fire, almost like in real life. They give you plenty of options. ARs are good at all ranges, they have well-balanced damage, and their magazines contain enough ammo for a decent number of firefights. Think of them like the older brother of another type of weapon we covered in one of our guides - SMGs.

You could find a good assault rifle after your drop, obtain some attachments and hold onto it until the end of the round. You just need to worry about ammo, and that’s it. In Garena Free Fire assault rifles are the most newbie-friendly weapons. They don’t have a high skill cap, and you don’t even have to know the game that much. If you are a skilled gamer that knows how to aim properly and to move you can take an AR and get a Booyah in the first round you’ve played. Especially if you’ve practiced in other similar games like PUBG.

Assault rifles have more items than any other weapon category in Free Fire, and we’ll cover each one in this guide!

AN94 assault rifle guide

free fire assault rifles guide - AN94

AN-94 is an assault rifle made in Russia, and its purpose was to replace the successor of the most famous AR in the world AK-47. However, the rifle turned out to be too expensive, so they stopped production in 2006.

AN-94 has the lowest range of all ARs in Free Fire. For this particular reason, it should be used only at the close to mid-range in the firefights. Its damage is excellent, and therefore the weapon has a somewhat higher recoil.

It can fit any attachment in the game except the silencer.

  • DAMAGE: 60
  • RATE OF FIRE: 58
  • RANGE: 55
  • RELOAD SPEED: 45
  • MAGAZINE: 30
  • ACCURACY: 48
  • MOVEMENT SPEED: 62
  • ARMOR PENETRATION: 0
  • ATTACHMENTS: MUZZLE, FOREGRIP, MAGAZINE, SCOPE, STOCK

2
XM8 assault rifle guide

free fire assault rifles guide - XM8

This futuristically designed rifle was made by Heckler and Koch. It was supposed to replace the US assault rifles because it was lighter and cheaper. However, the deal got broken, so the weapon didn’t become an official US infantry AR. It is still used by some military forces throughout the world.

In the game, XM8 comes with a pre-installed scope, making it more effective in mid-long range combat. It is also the lightest AR in the game, so you can run much faster with it than with other rifles.

XM8 can be upgraded with any attachment except for the scope, which is already built-in by default.

  • DAMAGE: 57
  • RATE OF FIRE: 60
  • RANGE: 58
  • RELOAD SPEED: 48
  • MAGAZINE: 25
  • ACCURACY: 58
  • MOVEMENT SPEED: 73
  • ARMOR PENETRATION: 0
  • ATTACHMENTS: MUZZLE, FOREGRIP, MAGAZINE, SILENCER, STOCK

M60 assault rifle guide

free fire assault rifles guide - M60

M60 is actually an LMG, so it would be a much better fit for our Free Fire LMGs guide!
The real weapon was made in the US and produced in the ‘60s. Since then it was used in numerous wars, and it’s still actively used by some countries.

Even though M60 can’t fit any attachments other than the magazine, it’s still more than viable in its default state. I’ve got a few Booyah’s using it and I’m not an awesome player, so that says a lot about the weapon. It has a decent range, but it lacks a little more accuracy to be used effectively in long-ranged combat situations. However, even despite being a little inaccurate, we are highly recommending the weapon as it has a great magazine that can fit 60 bullets!

In case you need a scope for longer-ranged combat, this weapon is not for you.

  • DAMAGE: 56
  • RATE OF FIRE: 56
  • RANGE: 65
  • RELOAD SPEED: 48
  • MAGAZINE: 60
  • ACCURACY: 43
  • MOVEMENT SPEED: 58
  • ARMOR PENETRATION: 0
  • ATTACHMENTS: MAGAZINE

4
SVD assault rifles guide

free fire assault rifles guide - SVD

SVD is widely known as Dragunov designated marksman rifle. It was made in the Soviet Union during the ‘60s. There are a few different variants of the weapon and some of them are still in service.

In Garena Free Fire SVD has the highest single-shot damage when it comes to assault rifles. It actually has much different gameplay that fits more to the sniper rifle, as the weapon is actually DMR. So, use it with the scope at longer to mid-ranges, but when your opponents are close, or when you have to enter a building, use something else like a shotgun or SMG.
Note that the weapon also has armor penetration!

  • DAMAGE: 89
  • RATE OF FIRE: 35
  • RANGE: 80
  • RELOAD SPEED: 41
  • MAGAZINE: 10
  • ACCURACY: 51
  • MOVEMENT SPEED: 62
  • ARMOR PENETRATION: 67
  • ATTACHMENTS: MUZZLE, FOREGRIP, MAGAZINE, SILENCER, STOCK

5
FAMAS assault rifles guide

FAMAS is another famous (Ha!) assault rifle that you’ve probably already seen in a lot of movies or other first-person shooters. It’s French-made, and it had a lot of different variants in the last 40 years. The French army used it until recently when they started switching to HK 416.

What differentiates this gun from other assault rifles is the burst fire mode of 3 rounds. FAMAS also has the best rate of fire amongst the ARs, making it a deadly weapon. Best to use it at the mid-long range and switch to something else when it comes to close combat.
FAMAS is one of the rare weapons that can fit all of the attachments.

  • DAMAGE: 53
  • RATE OF FIRE: 67
  • RANGE: 70
  • RELOAD SPEED: 48
  • MAGAZINE: 30
  • ACCURACY: 54
  • MOVEMENT SPEED: 62
  • ARMOR PENETRATION: 0
  • ATTACHMENTS: MUZZLE, FOREGRIP, MAGAZINE, SILENCER, STOCK, SCOPE

6
M4A1 assault rifle guide

This US-made assault rifle was featured in a number of modern Hollywood hits. It’s a successor of the M16. Like its predecessor, M4A1 can include a number of different attachments including the grenade launcher.

In Garena Free Fire M4A1 has almost the same stats as the FAMAS with only two differences. M4A1 has a higher range and lower rate of fire. This is an exceptional assault rifle, you can easily use by the end of the round. If you find (and you will) any attachments, then the weapon will become even more reliable, especially with the scope. This weapon is one of the best in our whole Free Fire assault weapons guide!

You can put any attachment on it.

  • DAMAGE: 53
  • RATE OF FIRE: 57
  • RANGE: 79
  • RELOAD SPEED: 48
  • MAGAZINE: 30
  • ACCURACY: 55
  • MOVEMENT SPEED: 62
  • ARMOR PENETRATION: 0
  • ATTACHMENTS: MUZZLE, FOREGRIP, MAGAZINE, SILENCER, STOCK, SCOPE

7
AK guide

free fire assault rifles guide - AK

In case you haven’t heard about this legendary firearm, then maybe the Free Fire is not a proper game for you. Can we suggest something else like Cookie Run: Kingdom?

Heavy damage dealer, the AK should be used by the veterans of the game. Its recoil is a thing of tales, and if you find yourself going full automatic, after a second or two you’ll be hitting anything else but your target. AK needs to be treated gently, like a princess. Fire in bursts of few shots and you’ll be able to control it properly and unlock its full potential.

You can put all six attachments on it.

  • DAMAGE: 61
  • RATE OF FIRE: 56
  • RANGE: 72
  • RELOAD SPEED: 41
  • MAGAZINE: 30
  • ACCURACY: 41
  • MOVEMENT SPEED: 62
  • ARMOR PENETRATION: 0
  • ATTACHMENTS: MUZZLE, FOREGRIP, MAGAZINE, SILENCER, STOCK, SCOPE

8
SKS guide

free fire sks guide

The first SKS was built in Russia during WW2. However, AK was built just a few years after, and SKS quickly became outdated.

In Free Fire, SKS is another DMR that got into the assault rifles category. It’s similar to the first DMR in this guide - SVD. They are both coming with a pre-built scope. The biggest difference would be that Dragunov has a bit more damage and armor penetration. Even the attachments you can place on both are the same.

  • DAMAGE: 82
  • RATE OF FIRE: 35
  • RANGE: 82
  • RELOAD SPEED: 41
  • MAGAZINE: 10
  • ACCURACY: 51
  • MOVEMENT SPEED: 62
  • ARMOR PENETRATION: 46
  • ATTACHMENTS: MUZZLE, FOREGRIP, MAGAZINE, SILENCER, STOCK

9
GROZA assault rifle guide

free fire assault rifles guide - GROZA

Groza is a Russian assault rifle that was produced in the ‘90s. It resembles SMGs more than ARs, and it has a variant for 9mm ammo. It’s still used by some of the paratroopers and maybe Specnaz, but that’s not confirmed.

In Free Fire, Groza is only available in the airdrops, and there is a good reason behind this: the weapon is outstanding. Of all of the weapons we tested for this Free Fire AR guide, this one really stands out. It has a minuscule recoil and the same damage as AK. So, you can think of Groza as the AK on a bipod. Steady firing, with huge damage output. One nice burst with this bad boy and your opponents are toast.

The thing is, it even fits every possible upgrade as if the basic version wasn’t good enough.

  • DAMAGE: 61
  • RATE OF FIRE: 56
  • RANGE: 75
  • RELOAD SPEED: 48
  • MAGAZINE: 30
  • ACCURACY: 54
  • MOVEMENT SPEED: 58
  • ARMOR PENETRATION: 0
  • ATTACHMENTS: MUZZLE, FOREGRIP, MAGAZINE, SILENCER, STOCK, SCOPE

10
M14 guide

M14 guide - free fire

This DMR was made in the US and had only seen a few years of action before it was replaced by M39.

If you would like to have a DMR with more than 10 rounds, this is your rifle. However, the M14 doesn’t come with the scope, and you’ll have to work on finding one. It has a bit less damage and range than its Russian counterparts, but it does have a better rate of fire.

You can place all of the upgrades except the stock because it already has it by default.

  • DAMAGE: 77
  • RATE OF FIRE: 43
  • RANGE: 77
  • RELOAD SPEED: 41
  • MAGAZINE: 15
  • ACCURACY: 57
  • MOVEMENT SPEED: 62
  • ARMOR PENETRATION: 0
  • ATTACHMENTS: MUZZLE, FOREGRIP, MAGAZINE, SILENCER, SCOPE

11
SCAR assault rifle guide

free fire assault rifles guide - scar

SCAR is a very beginner-friendly AR because of its recoil which is almost nonexistent. You don’t have to come up with some tactics or think about how to use SCAR, do you need to fire in bursts or not. Just press the button and you’ll have no worry in the world. You can even fit all of the attachments to it.

However, this comes with a price. The rest of the stats are at the lower spectrum. After you learn how to shoot and move, you’ll probably switch SCAR with and other AR as soon as the opportunity arises.

  • DAMAGE: 53
  • RATE OF FIRE: 61
  • RANGE: 60
  • RELOAD SPEED: 41
  • MAGAZINE: 30
  • ACCURACY: 42
  • MOVEMENT SPEED: 62
  • ARMOR PENETRATION: 0
  • ATTACHMENTS: MUZZLE, FOREGRIP, MAGAZINE, SILENCER, STOCK, SCOPE

12
Heat Gun

heat gun

Heat Gun is a special weapon in Garena Free Fire. The weapon actually has infinite ammo, but it overheats if you fire more than 30 rounds at once. You need to let it cool off before firing again. Although infinite ammo is a nice perk, it’s not really crucial in this game. You’ll probably have more than enough ammo with most weapons anyway. Heat Gun has nice stats, but a low number of attachments.

It’s not a bad weapon, it’s just that there are much better options that we’ve covered in this AR guide.

  • DAMAGE: 57
  • RATE OF FIRE: 58
  • RANGE: 73
  • RELOAD SPEED: 0
  • MAGAZINE: 30
  • ACCURACY: 54
  • MOVEMENT SPEED: 62
  • ARMOR PENETRATION: 0
  • ATTACHMENTS: FOREGRIP, SCOPE

13
AUG guide

free fire aug assault rifle guide

Steyer’s AUG went into mass production in 1978, and the weapon is still used and produced! With a few modifications, but this says a lot about the quality of the AUG itself.

This weapon is exceptional! Of all the weapons we used for the purpose of the Free Fire assault rifles guide I liked this one the most. It’s newbie-friendly, has a bit extra ammo in case you need some more, and the perfect stability. You can shoot it at a close, mid or long range, it doesn’t matter. AUG has tremendous stability, and no one can deny it.

  • DAMAGE: 56
  • RATE OF FIRE: 61
  • RANGE: 56
  • RELOAD SPEED: 48
  • MAGAZINE: 35
  • ACCURACY: 35
  • MOVEMENT SPEED: 50
  • ARMOR PENETRATION: 0
  • ATTACHMENTS: MUZZLE, FOREGRIP, MAGAZINE, SILENCER, STOCK, SCOPE

14
ParaFAL guide

parafal guide free fire

ParaFAL is a Brazilian made DMR. It’s used by Brazilian police and the army.

It’s one of the newest weapons in Garena Free Fire. And to be honest, we don’t like it. DMRs are supposed to have a high range for a reason. If anyone comes close to you with an automatic weapon, you are gone! And this weapon is good for mid-range combat, but this is where the assault rifles will rip you apart.

Also, it has no armor penetration like most of the other DMRs.

  • DAMAGE: 69
  • RATE OF FIRE: 48
  • RANGE: 61
  • RELOAD SPEED: 41
  • MAGAZINE: 30
  • ACCURACY: 37
  • MOVEMENT SPEED: 63
  • ARMOR PENETRATION: 0
  • ATTACHMENTS: MUZZLE, FOREGRIP, MAGAZINE, SILENCER, STOCK, SCOPE

15
Woodpecker guide

free fire assault rifles guide - woodpecker

Woodpecker was added to the Free Fire assault rifles arsenal a few months ago. We tested the weapon and it gave a satisfying result. It’s a DMR, obviously, and it’s range isn’t that great. However, hits in the head from close and medium range are devastating. It comes with a scope by default.

However, you’ll need a bit of skill to use the weapon, as most of the opponents will use a shotgun or automatic weapons at closer ranges, so you need to make your shots count. If you are new to the game, skip this weapon. We covered a lot of newbie-friendly guns in this Free Fire assault rifles guide, so you should just use one of them for starters.

  • DAMAGE: 85
  • RATE OF FIRE: 39
  • RANGE: 63
  • RELOAD SPEED: 48
  • MAGAZINE: 12
  • ACCURACY: 69
  • MOVEMENT SPEED: 62
  • ARMOR PENETRATION: 75
  • ATTACHMENTS: MUZZLE, FOREGRIP, MAGAZINE, SILENCER, STOCK

Best assault rifle in Free Fire

We’ll have two weapons, as there are definitely two different weapon categories crammed up into one. The best assault rifle in Free Fire is GROZA! This won’t come as much of a surprise to the veteran players. The best DMR in Free Fire is SVD. It has all of the features of a good DMR, the range and the suitable damage.

When I was 6 y/o, my gaming journey began on Amiga 600. That’s where the Worms, The Secret of Monkey Island, Lemmings and many other legendary games made their first appearance. People say: “you can’t find games like that anymore”, but I beg to differ. Anyway, you can still see the same passion and zoning out whenever I’m doing something I like, including my lifelong passion – gaming. I’m currently doing a different line of work, SEO Management and writing, but when the time allows I get into the games I love and spend some peaceful hours. If friends are playing with me, it’s even merrier.
