Gameloft signs deal with Qualcomm for HD dual-core Android games

Yesterday, Gameloft announced that it would be licensing Unreal Engine 3 – the brains behind Infinity Blade - for four games. Today it signalled its HD ambitions even further by announcing that it's working with Qualcomm to bring four HD games to dual-core Android phones.

In a joint statement the companies reveal that Spider-Man Total Mayhem HD, Real Football 2011 HD, GT Racing: Motor Academy HD, and Modern Combat 2: Black Pegasus are all incoming, with more to be added to the list throughout the year.

Here's a technical bit from the press release: “Qualcomm’s Snapdragon dual-core CPU processors include two asynchronous CPU cores that will run at up to 1.5 GHz per core, embedded Adreno 220 GPU and advanced multimedia capabilities, including a high performance DSP for Dolby5.1, SRS and other surround sound technologies.”

One upshot of all this is that you'll be able to plug your games into your TV and play them on a big screen, if your phone has the necessary HDMI output and your TV has the necessary HDMI input.

“We are happy to work with Qualcomm to bring a great gaming experience to tablets and smartphones powered by Snapdragon processors,” writes Baudouin Corman, vice president of Gameloft Publishing Americas.

“Gameloft is committed to delivering the best HD games to the Android platform and we are pleased to work with Qualcomm to take it to the next level.”
