Samsung is pretty proud of its custom 1 Ghz Hummingbird CPU/PowerVR combo that powers the innards of the Wave and Galaxy S, stating that it was three times faster than the 1 Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon that the Desire uses at a recent conference.

Words and benchmarks are all very well, but there’s nothing quite like seeing how this pans out in a real-world situation.

Like, say, what would happen if the HTC Desire and Samsung Galaxy S were placed side-by-side and ran Quake 2 on demo mode?

The results don’t make particularly pleasant viewing for those of you with HTC’s powerhouse.
